One of the reasons we chose The 1990s and Beyond as our February theme is to remind folks how many of the incredible artists from the 1960s and 1970s are still rocking over 4 decades later! This soundboard recording from February 13, 1994, 21 years ago today, is a perfect example. That night, David Crosby and Graham Nash, always activists who believed in using rock music to support political and social causes, played a benefit concert for SEVA. They were joined on stage by Phil Lesh of The Grateful Dead and Jorma Kaukonen of Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna. The SEVA foundation, an international health organization, is best known for its work in Africa and Asia, but began helping Native American communities in the US in 1982. Since 1979, rock musicians have partnered with SEVA to raise funds. Artists such as the Grateful Dead, The Band, Bruce Hornsby, Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, Graham Nash, Country Joe McDonald, Maria Muldaur and Paul Simon, just to name a few, have participated in dozens of shows over the last 36 years (go here for more on SEVA benefit concerts)
