From 1969 to 1971, Tom Jones hosted a weekly variety show that was taped in London and then exported for broadcast to the US on ABC. In all 65 episodes were shot over the 3 tears. Each episode featured Tom singing several songs, some solo and some with his weekly guests. Those guests were among rock;s biggest stars at the time, including Stevie Wonder, Dusty Springfield, Blood Sweat & Tears, Donovan, Janis Joplin, Johnny Cash, Smokey Robinson, and Ray Charles, just to name a few.This TV soundboard recording captures Tom on February 19, 1970, 46 years ago today, along with musical guest Joe Cocker and The Grease Band!

Wow Speedy,does this take me back, When variety shows were king, Ed Sullivan,Tom Jones, Smothers Brothers,Red Skelton, Glen Campbell goodtime hour, Johnny Cash Show,Carol Burnette and on and on,probably leaving some out.then the 70s took it even further with The Midnight Special . Don Kirshner's Rock Concerts and the like, real artists with talent who didnt need auto tune and studio trickery and vulgarity on stage to make it big, unlike todays no talent American Idols / Mileys/ Beibers and the like and all of the other stupid reality shows where all you have to do is act like an outragous idiot to become famous. Please post more of these Tom Jones shows if you can?, Would love to hear him duet with Dusty Springfield, Believe The Pre Disco Bee Gees were on his show also as well as JJ and others, in fact just a thought,other variety show performances like the Glen Campbell and Johnny Cash shows would be great as well .
