As long time readers of this blog know, we’ve posted numerous shows from The Dead’s 1987 tour, which featured Jerry Garcia’s triumphant return from a near fatal diabetic coma. The mood at those shows was incredibly festive, as Dead Heads rejoiced that the band’s spiritual leader was still “truckin’ on”. This soundboard recording captures the band at Red Rocks on August 12, 1987, 31 years ago today.  While the playing may not be quite up to the levels of the Red Rocks show from July 1978, you can feel the love between audience and band in every note.  Download this one to enjoy Jerry’s heartfelt return from near death to the Dead!
