1968 -  In July 1968, the Grateful Dead released their 2nd studio album, entitled Anthem Of The Sun.  The disc consisted on just 5 songs, 4 of which were 7 minutes of more in length.  It was a far cry from the early 1960s when 2 minute pop tunes ruled the day. Three of those tracks - The Other One, Alligator and Caution (Do Not Stop On The tracks) would become staples of the band's 1968 and 1969 concerts which centered on psychedelic and blues based jams.  This soundboard recording from Los Angeles from December 21, 1968, 53 years ago today, features all 3, serving as an excellent example of "primal Dead".
