On March 31, 1992, Bruce Springsteen released not one but two studio albums - Lucky Town and Human Touch. The two discs were recorded after Springsteen had dissolved the E-Strret Band in 1989 and moved to Los Angeles with new wife Patti Scalfia, While the discs were commercial successes, with Human Touch reaching #2 on the Billboard charts and Lucky Town climbing to #3, lon Steen Springsteen fans were hardly fond of either disc. In fact, they referred to the backing musicians on these albums as “The Other Band”. Springsteen launched a World Tour in support of the two albums on June 15, 1992. Ten days prior to that, however, on June 5, 1992, 22 years ago today he played a rehearsal show in Los Angeles. The bulk of that show was broadcast live on FM radio. While for the most part, the albums and tour signled a new (and thankfully brief) change in direction for Springsteen, the rehearsal show did have one link to his past (and future) glory, as Miami Steve joined him for 57 Channels And Nothing On.
