On several occasions, I’ve gotten questions from readers of this blog asking the following: “If So Many Roads is dedicated to classic rock, why are you posting Frank Sinatra concerts?” I’ll let U2’s Bono answer that for me. When Bono introduced Frank when Sinatra was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Grammy in 1994, here’s what the U2 front man had to say: "Frank's the chairman of the bad attitude... rock 'n roll plays at being tough, but this guy is the boss. The chairman of boss... I'm not going to mess with him, are you?" Frank was rock and roll tough long before early rockers wore black leather. That never changed, even when he was past his 70th birthday, as at this concert in Italy from June 20, 1987, 27 years ago today. Download this soundboard and enjoy a classic performance from the Chairman Of The Board.

Frank Sinatra/Bruce Springsteen Connections- Both Frank and Bruce were Jersey Boys. Frank was born in Hoboken on December 12, 1915 and Bruce in Long Branch on September 23, 1949.
- Joe Piscopo of Saturday Night Live fame has done impersonation of both Frank and Bruce - check out this you tube clip
- At a November 19, 1995 tribute to Sinatra in honor of his 80th birthday, Springsteen sang a rendition of Angel Eyes, from his favorite Sinatra album, Only The Lonely
- Springsteen once joked that Sinatra owned New Jersey, but was kind enough to "loan me a little piece of it down by the shore."
