Three years after releasing Back on Top in 1999, Van Morrison had another significant chart success with the album, Down The Road. The disc, released in May 2002, went to #26 on the Billboard charts, his highest charting album since Saint Dominic's Preview in 1972, 3 decades earlier! Similar to Back on Top, Down The Road features blues and R&B music, reflecting some of Van’s earliest influences. This soundboard recording captures Van on June 6, 2002, a dozen years ago today, in Berlin soon after the release on Down The Road. • According to Rolling Stone Magazine, Van Morrison was one of Bruce Springsteen’s 25 biggest heroes. 
• Springsteen was a huge fan of Van’s Original band Them.
• Bruce’s first 2 albums were heavily influenced by Morrison’s sound, with the tune Rosalita echoing Domino in places. 
• Bruce and The E Street Band were also obsessed with Van’s 1968 masterpiece, Astral Weeks.
• Supposedly, Van The Man was not happy that Springsteen had copied some of his stage moves and borrowed some of his melodies, expressing his dissatisfaction in the lyrics of the song Town Called Paradise: “Copycats ripped off my words, Copycats ripped off my songs, Copycats ripped off my melody"
