For the third time this month, the rock world lost another legend. On the heels of losing David Bowie and Glenn Frey, we lost Paul Kantner of Jefferson Airplane and Jefferson Starship.

Very obvious miming which was done often unfortunatly in those 60s shows but interesting none the less.Sometimes the vocals would be live singing to backing tracks with band members pretending to play instruments other times the band would play but the singer would lipsynk,very humorous ,coudnt get away with that today as society is way too sophisticated ,a much simpler time
One way to tell back then was to see if the amps were wired and cords were coming out of the mics and instruments ,The stones on Sullivan were a good example, their early appearances from 64 thru Jan 66 were all live, When thay appeared in Sept of 66 and did Paint it Black, Lady Jane and Have you seen your mother, Micks vocals were live but the band faked it as no cords anywhere, remember Brian Jones sitting crosslegged on the floor pretending to play the sitar, funny as hell, In Jan of 67 the famous show where Ed orders them to change the words to lets spend the night together , Mick sings live changing the words to lets spend some time together rolling his eyes in the process, the band once again faked it. Hillarious
Wow Speedy, say it aint so not again, How much more of this can we take, First David Bowie, then Glenn Frey and now Paul Kantner, all in the span of a month,also Lou Reed and Ray Manzarak not too long ago,Paul was the glue that held the airplane and later the starship together and enabled the others to shine, lost Spencer Dryden a while back as well,Bowies death has gotten the most attention as aside from being a rock legend he was a cultural icon as well but they all sting equally. Airplane were awesome with their wailing vocal harmonies, long jams and thundering Jack Casady bass solos,another piece of me has died this monthand its not even Feb yet R.I P Paul Kantner you were also a legend in a world of diminishing legends,you will always be remembered and missed
