Here's another one from Jerry from his favorite venue, the Keystone in Berkeley. This soundboard recording captures Jerry on January 27, 1976, 4 decades ago this very day, during the Dead's hiatus from touring. Less than 6 months later, that hiatus would end, as the Dead resumed touring on June 3, and wouldn't stop until Jerry's passing in 1995. And while the remaining members of the Dead have toured on and off in all sorts of configurations over the last 3 decades, including the Fare Thee Well shows this past summer, playing wonderful music in the process, its just not the Grateful Dead without Jerry.

i couldnt agree more with what you said about the Dead (or By any other name) not being the GD with out Jerry...when he died,that was it...anything else is just other people playing his songs now..we were blessed in seeing the REAL Dead and Jerry..hope youre doing well my good friend...Wolfclan
Hope you are we'll too my good friend. I've never seen any post Jerry incarnation of the band. Just can't bring myself to do it. Miss Jerry way too much. Maybe that's foolish on my part but it just doesn't seem right to hear those tunes without his voice, guitar and spirit
I also feel the same way Speedy, seen some John K videos and have to say i was impressed with him as a tribute band.I wouldn't go see him nor collecct his shows, they are Jerry's Its not the real thing though its Memorex.
This show has excellent Jer vocals, soulful as he was.Great post!!
i dont think its foolish at all Speedy,i totally agree...i do feel sorry for the younger ones who like the dead and have only seen these post jerry bands(the Dead,Other Ones..Dead & co. and the fare the well shows) and think they are seeing THE Grateful Dead..i had one show of one post jerry band,it sounded like a garage cover band to me,didnt bother keeping it either...hope youre not knee deep in snow my friend..Wolfclan
