1992 - After a series of hard rocking albums with Crazy Horse in the late 1980s and early 1990s, Neil Young returned to his acoustic roots with 1992’s disc, Harvest Moon. The album was Neil’s 20th studio disc, and in name, tone, and supporting cast, harkened back to his landmark recording Harvest, released 2 decades prior. Ben Keith, Tim Drummond and Kenny Buttrey backed Neil on Harvest Moon, just as they had on Harvest. Linda Ronstadt and James Taylor made guest appearances on the 1992 disc, just as they had on its 1972 predecessor. Interestingly, 3 folks who played on Harvest that did not appear on Harvest Moon were Neil’s sometime band mates, Crosby, Stills and Nash. In any event, Harvest Moon climbed to #16 on the Billboard charts, and received a four star review from Rolling Stone. AllMusic wrote that the title track was “positively gorgeous". In addition, Classic Rock Review named Harvest Moon its album of the year for 1992.
