Steve Miller released his 12th studio album, entitled Abracadabra, on June 15, 1982. The disc went to #3 on the Billboard charts, while the title track climbed all the way to #1 on the singles charts, his third song to accomplish that feat, with The Joker and Rock'n Me being the other two (Note - Fly Like An Eagle stalled at #2). This soundboard recording captures Miller in Rotterdam just a few weeks after the release of the album, on August 2, 1982, 38 years ago today.
Steve Miller/Jerry Garcia Connections
- Believe it or not, Steve Miller actually sat in with the Grateful Dead on at least 5 occasions during their 1992 summer tour, where Miller was the opening act. In some ways, that’s surprising, as Miller had gone a far more commercial route in the 1970s and 1980s than the Dead had.
- That said, both bands emerged from the 1960s San Francisco music scene, with Miller and The Dead appearing on the same bill as early as 1966!

Thanks, Speedy! This has pretty good sound, if a bit bass-shy.
BTW, the title of the second song should be "The Joker."
