In a month that So Many Roads has dedicated to Jerry Garcia, what better show to post then the one and only Warren Haynes playing a tribute to Jerry, backed by a full symphony orchestra. This soundboard recording captures Warren’s Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration at the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre on August 3, 2014, just 6 year ago today.
Warren Haynes/Jerry Garcia Connections
- In addition to the Symphonic Celebrations, Warren Haynes has a long history of connections to Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead.
- At many of the Symphonic Celebration shows, Warren played Garcia’s famed Wolf guitar
- His tune, Patchwork Quilt, is a tribute to Jerry, mentioning how the Allmans were at Jones Beach the night Jerry died (that show will be coming up in just 6 days!)
- Starting in 1989, Warren played guitar for the allman Brothers, who as noted earlier this month, have a long history of Connections to Jerry and teh Garteful Dead.
- From 1999 to 2003, Haynes played guitar for Phil Lesh and Friends. Then in 2004 and 2009, He played with The Dead, one of the several post Grateful Dead incarnations of the band. Of course, in both bands, he took on the lead guitar parts that once belonged to the one and only Mr, Garcia.

Great stuff, Speedy!!! I have the missing track- and every note of this gig- if you are interested. If I remember correctly, it was taken from the webcast, & sounds purdy darned good. I'm also proud of the artwork I've been able to produce these past few years, & only use photos from one particular gig. If you are interested, I can check back in a few days & give you my e-mail. In any case, you "F'N" rock!!!
