On August 23, 1991, Jerry Garcia and David Grisman rleased their first album together, a 9 song collection of American folk tunes, including Friend Of The Devil, the Grateful Dead classic that Grisman played Mandolin on in 1970, a cover of The Thrill Is Gone, made famous by BB King, and an original composition entitled Grateful Dawg, the title of which combines part of the name of the Grateful Dead with Grisman's nickname.  The duo played a series of live shows in December 1991 at the Warfield Theater in San Francisco.This excellent audience recording captures the last night, on December 9, 1991, 29 years ago today, where the pair closed the show with an instrumental version of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, a song keeping with the time of the year and our theme for the month!
