In May of 1993, David Crosby released his third solo album, entitled Thousand Roads. The disc featured a who's who of rock legends supporting Crosby including Phil Collins, Jeff Pevar, Jim Keltner, Benmont Tench, Jimmy Webb, Graham Nash, Jackson Browne, Marc Cohn, Jeff Porcaro, Andy Fairweather Low, Paul (Wix) Wickens, Russ Kunkel, & Stephen Bishop. Despite the star studded cast, the album did not sell well and received less than stellar reviews, with Robert Cristgau, for example, grading it as a C minus. That didn't stop Crosby from hitting the road in support of the disc. This soundboard recording captures him in Hawaii on December 28, 1993, 31 years ago today He gets some help near the end of the set from 2 of his Thousand Roads collaborators, Graham Nash and Russ Kunkel, as well as from his opening act, Nicolette Larson.

While I'm not familiar with the album he was touring in support of, I have to check out some of his classics that were performed. Thanks very much, G.
I never knew about this album. My record store at the time didn't promote it at all. They called it "dinosaur rock" and it was hidden in the store, but grunge and alternative were everywhere. Posters and cardboard cut outs. Probably because mainstream music buyers were not into CSN solo stuff in 1993. I'll stream this album and see what I missed and then listen to the show. This is an exceptionally high quality recording and a dynamic performance by Crosby. I've got a lot of Crosby boots and this would have to be among the very best of the bunch when you combine the recording and the performance. Thanks so much for this Speedy! By the way, that Cristgau guy is always wrong in his reviews. He gave the Beatles White Album a bad review which is reason enough to ignore him. Thousand Roads is a fine album, just as all of David's solo work is worth having.
