#with Merl Saunders
After departing Kingfish in August 1976 as the Grateful Dead returned to full time touring, Bob Weir went 8 years before he again took the stage with them. Then in fall 1984, Weir rejoined Kingfish as a part time member, playing sporadically with the group over the next 3 years. This soundboard recording captures Weir with Kingfish on December 26, 1984, 40 years ago today, at the Stone in San Francisco. Bill Kreutzmann and Merl Saunders also sit in. Of note, the tape has a brief set from George Thorogood between the two by Kingfish, but it may not be from this date. According to the GDsets.com site, the Thorogood appearance came on October 26 (not December 26) at the same venue. The 2 Kingfish sets match exactly what the GDsets.com shows for December 26.
