Was away for the holiday weekend so just wanted to take a moment to honor the memory of Greg Allman. Folks who have followed this blog since the beginning know that the Allmans have always been prominently featured on So Many Roads. Greg was one of the great voices in rock history,filed with soul, and the band could electrify an audience. My condolence his family and friends, and my thanks for the wonderful tunes and performances that will always be a part of my musical journey. May he rest in peace and be re-united with his brother, Duane, in heaven above,

Heartbroken,Although i loved the Allman Brothers my favorite Greg Allman record was his solo debut in 73 Laid back.Greg without the constraints of the band is able to allow his incredible voice to soar like it never did before or since.So soulful and Blusey.Multicolored Lady is the best track here about Greg taking a bus ride sitting next to a lady whos loved one is on death row and the trip that follows.Other great songs are his redo of midnight rider,These days Queen of hearts.the gospel song may the circle be unbroken and more.as for his work in the band Melissa is my favorite song and eat a peach my favorite album.Cant listen to Melissa without getting teary eyed.Greg had many demons in his life,drugs,health issues as he got older,the loss of family {DUANE} and others as well as many other issues but he gave us so much with his incredible talent and god what a voice for the ages.Greg,Duane.Butch Trucks,Berry Oakley,they are all gone now,so sad.Speedy we have lost so many great people the last couple of years.It seems since David Bowie left us the floodgates have opened.losing all of the people of our youth,makes me feel very old sometimes.R.I.P Greg you will be missed,
