The Band - 1986 - #1:  The year 1986 had been a difficult one for The Band, as early on, Richard Manuel committed suicide. having suffered for years from alcoholism and drug addiction. Down to just 3 of the 5 original members - Garth Hudson, Levon Helm and Rick Danko as Robbie Robertson remained apart from his former band mates, pursuing his solo career - The Band could have called it quits for a 2nd time. Instead, the trio decided to continue to tour and would do so until Rick Danko's death in 1999. This soundboard recording captures The Band near the end of that tragic year on December 20, 1986, 33 years ago today.
