On June 1, 1997, Van Morrison and Bob Dylan headlined The Awakening, a concert in his homeland of Ireland designed to raise funds for GORTA, the Irish charity which battles against global hunger. You don't often hear about the charity works of the ever moody and always unpredictable Mr. Morrison, but playing events such as the Awakening proves that beneath the gruff exterior, Van the Man has quite a big heart.
