Billy Joel 1976 - #1: In early 1976, Billy Joel returned to New York after spending almost 4 years in Los Angeles. He recorded Turnstiles, his 4th album, at Ultrasonic Studios in his native Long Island. Three of the album's tracks celebrate his return home by specifically referencing New York  - Summer, Highland Falls, New York State Of Mind and Miami 2017. In addition, the opening number, Say Goodbye to Hollywood, is his not so fond farewell to the West Coast. While the album only climbed to #122 in the Billboard charts, it did help launch Billy on his first headline tour. This FM broadcast captures Joel on October 29, 1976, 41 years ago today, at the Capitol Theater in Passaic, NJ.
