In April 2017, Sheryl Crow released her tenth studio album entitled By Myself. The disc was produced by Crow and Jeff Trott, who also worked with Crow on her self-titled 1996 album and 1998's The Globe Sessions, The album it featured a return to a more rock-driven sound following Crow's 2013 country album, Feels Like Home. The disc climbed to #22 on the Billboard album charts, whil receiving mostly positive critical reviews. This excellent audience recording captures Sheryl on tour in support of By Myself in Los Angeles on June 8, 2017, just 2 years ago today. By the way, this is the perfect selection of a month dedicated to the Allman Brothers as Sheryl plays Midnight Rider during the encores!
Sheryl Crow/Allman Brothers Connections
- In 1994, Sheryl and the Allman Brothers were both part of the Horde Tour
- In 1995, during a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Concert, Sheryl joined the Allman Brothers on stage to play Midnight Rider
- During the Allman's 40th anniversary run at the Beacon Theatre in 2009, Sheryl sat in with the band for several tunes at their March 17 concert.
- According to Sheryl, she had grown up on the Allman Brothers. She told Billboard Magazine that the Allmans were "a major sound of my childhood. I grew up with parents who listened to the Allman Brothers and they grew up on the Mississippi and that was our home kind of music, music that was blues-influenced and rock and roll and very Southern."
