1990s - #4: Over the years, the annual Farm Aid concert has featured a vast array of musicians representing a host of genres - just some examples below
- British rock legends, such Elton John, Ringo Starr, The Who and David Bowie,
- 1960s American rock icons including Bob Dylan, John Fogerty, the Beach Boys, and the Grateful Dead
- Country Western stars such as Johnny Cash, Glen Campbell, Kris Kristofferson and Waylon Jennings
- Female icons including Sheryl Crow, Carole King, Emmylou Harris and Bonnie Raitt
- 1970s rock legends such as Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Tom Petty and Lou Reed
- Up and comers such as the Gin Blossoms in 1994, Hootie & The Blowfish in 1995, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals in 2008 and Black Pumas in 2020.
Another breakout artist that played Farm Aid were the Spin Doctors, who hit the stage in New Orleans on September 18, 1994, 27 years ago today. This soundboard captures them just a few months after the release of the 2nd album, entitled Turn It Upside Down.

I don't think McCartney ever played Farm Aid. Ringo did, oddly enough, as drummer with a group called the New Maroons, which never performed in public again and never released any records. Ringo and Don Was put the group together, and the plan was they were going to make records with Ringo as drummer but not singing.
Thanks for the correction - I think McCartney played bridge School and I got that confused with Farm Aid
