1980s - #1: In June 1983, some 6 ½ years after the Last Waltz, The Band reunited. Well, at least 4/5 of the original group did, as Robbie Robertson choose to follow his own path. Levon Helm, Rick Danko, Garth Hudson and Richard Manuel played a series of small clubs in the summer of 1983, then played 6 dates in Japan in late August/early September. This soundboard recording catires them during that run in the land of the Rising Sun, on September 1, 1983, 38 years ago today.

I was at a killer show with The Band, Jerry Garcia Band, Etta James, Norton Buffalo, Kate Wolf and Lisa Nemzo on July 24, 1983 at the Nevada County Fairgrounds in Grass Valley, CA. Thanks for this show.
