In early 1976, Hall & Oates released the single Sara Smile, on RCA records, which became the group’s first top 10 hit. Then in July, their former record company, Atlantic, re-released the single She’s Gone, hoping to capitalize on the success of Sara Smile. It worked, as the song climbed to #7 on the Billboard charts. RCA had the last laugh, however, when the band’s next single, Rich Girl, from the 1976 album, Bigger Than Both of Us, became the duo’s first number one hit!
