The Clash - 1983-05-28 - US Festival, Devore, CA (TV SBD) 

 Over Memorial Day Weekend 1983, Steve Wozniak of Apple hosted the 2nd US Festival (the first has been discussed here) at Glen Helen Regional Park near Devore, California. Over 650,000 people attended the 3 day event, and Wozniak lost over $12 million! Each day featured a different musical genre. Opening Day, May 28 was New Wave Day, with such acts as The Clash, English Beat, INXS, Flock of Seagulls, Stray Cats and Men At Work. I'm not quite sure how the last 2 qualified as New Wave! Day 2, was Heavy Metal Day and included Van Halen, Ozzy, and Judas Priest. Finally, day 3 was Rock Day (as if the other 2 days weren't rock??) and featured U2, David Bowie, Stevie Nicks, Joe Walsh and, this post's featured band, the Pretenders. This TV SBD recording captures The Clash from the US Festival on opoening day, May 28, 1983, 43 years ago today.  By the way, this set almost didn't happen as The Clash got into a dispute with the local promoters about their fee for the show.  Moreover, it turned out to be the last gig Mick Jones ever played with the band.
