In 1996 VH1 launched Storytellers, a program in which artists performed in front of a small audience, and recounted stories about their music, writing experiences and memories. The show had its hey day between its debut and 2002, when 67 of its 98 episodes aired. This soundboard recording captures James Taylor's edition of the show, recorded in New York on May 31, 1997, 29 years ago today. Taylor had recently released the studio album "Hourglass," his first studio album in six years. It was seen as a comeback for him, both commercially and critically. The disc was his first Top Ten album in the U.S. in 16 years, selling over a million copies. It also won him a Grammy Award for Best Pop Album.
