As the Summer of Love dawned in June 1967, Bob Dylan was conspicuous by his absence. Dylan was still recovering from his motorcycle accident a year earlier, and declined an invitation to play at Monterey Pop. While Dylan wasn't making public appearances, that didn't mean he wasn't working. In the spring of 1967, he began recording with the Hawks who, as we all know, would become The Band, at his home and The Hawks' nearby house, which they affectionately called Big Pink. Those sessions would eventually be released in 1975 as The Basement Tapes. This soundboard recording captures Dylan 23 years after the Basement Tape sessions, in Oregon on June 14, 1999, 23 years ago today.
