In 1967, Van Morrison left Them and embarked on a solo career. During his first studio sessions for Bang Records, Morrison recorded a song which 55 years later, still may be the one he's most identified with. Brown Eyed Girl, captured on the 22nd take on his first day of recording, was released in June 1967, as the Summer Of Love dawned, and went to #10 on the Billboard charts. And while that was quite an auspicious debut, as Morrison sings in Someone Like You, "baby, the best was yet to come". For example, over 3 decades later, in March 1999, Van released the album Back On Top, which went to #28 on the Billboard charts, his highest ranked album since Wavelength in 1978. This FM broadcast captures Van on tour in support of Back On Top, in Norway on June 10, 2000, 22 years ago today.
