After not having much critical or commercial success in 1973 and 1974, James Taylor bounced back in 1975 and 1976. His 1975 album, Gorilla, went to #6 on the Billboard charts, and was well received by critics. His follow up album in 1976, In The Pocket, while not quite as successful, still went to #16 on the charts. His Greatest Hits album was also released in 1976, and eventually sold over 11 million copies. JT also released 3 of his most enduring singles during those 2 years, How Sweet It Is, Mexico and Shower The People. All 3 made the top 50 on the billboard charts, with How Sweet It is climbing to #5. It also hit #1 on the Adult Contemporary chart, as did Shower The People. This FM broadcast captures JT on tour in 1976, on July 25, 1976, 43 years ago today in Pittsburgh. He plays all 3 of the recent hits just mentioned, as well as the classics that made him a leading light of the folk rock movement. Moreover, he's accompanied by David Lindley, making this show a must have for your collection.
