In the early 1970's former Humble Pie guitarist Peter Frampton released 4 solo albums, none of which garnered much critical acclaim or commercial success. No one could have been prepared, therefore, for what transpired when he released his 5th album on January 6, 1976, a 2 disc live recording. Frampton Comes Alive came from out of nowhere to take the music world by storm. With songs such as Baby I Love Your Way, Show Me the Way, and the mammoth 14 minute long, Do You Feel Like We Do, which featured Frampton's distinctive talk box guitar, Frampton Comes Alive climbed to the top of the Billboard Charts, sold over 6 million copies, and was voted album of the years by readers of Rolling Stone. The album was so popular that it was still in the #14 position in the charts ay the end of 1977, almost 2 years after its release. Framptom Comes Alive virtually took on a life of its own. The album defined Frampton for the rest of his career, casting a shadow over all his future endeavors. More significantly, the disc came to define rock and roll in the mid 1970's. FM rock stations began to play more album oriented rock (AOR), as Frampton's album and other similar work came to be called. Other bands attempted to copy Frampton Comes Alive, but unfortunately the results were usually excessive, over produced, and downright boring. Other rebelled against the AOR sound and movements such as disco, punk and new wave emerged. All that, from 1 album. Speedy this show proves that overdubs are not nesasarry when releasing live albums . Peter was and is a tremendous live performer . As this was from the same tour as his legendary live album, do you happen to know if the overdub rumor is true or not , i would hope not but seeing as how almost everything official is tampered with in some way it wouldnt suprise me. have heard conflicting reports as to whether overdubs were used , Any insight would be appreciated Thank you PF rules

Of course Peter or any artist for that matter would never want to admit that they went into the studio to redo almost everything. Van Morrison swears to this day that his live album, too late to stop now was all live although others swear that it was 75 per cent studio 25 per cent live, even the allmans filmore east has been accused recently of being heavily overdubbed. someone associated with the project when recently asked how much was live replied the drums and about 10 per cent of the vocals. Mick Jagger to this day swears with that tongue and cheek grin of his that YA YAS was all live but cant keep a staight face when asked. almost all the vocals and half the instruments were redone in the studio,Here is the evidence that ive never heard mentioned before. the opening number Jumping Jack Flash. on that tour they always sang its alright its alright , twice every show was like that, however on the official its just one its alright. a dead giveaway that the vocals were redone. Bottom line is that you really can only trust bootlegs if you want the real deal. No official can really be trusted. Its unfortunate because in my opinion this studio deception is really unnessasarry . Many boots prove that these artists dont need to do this. dont understand why they think this is what we want. We want a true live performance warts and all
