In 1985, 3 years after disbanding, the 5 members of Squeeze who recorded Argy Bargy in 1980 - Difford, Tilbrook, Holland, Lavis, and Bentley - reformed for a charity gig in the UK. The concert was such a success that the band unanimously agreed to resume recording and touring as Squeeze. Searching for a different sound, however, the band replaced Bentley with bassist Keith Wilkinson. This new line-up released the 1985 album Cosi Fan Tutti Frutti, and then, having also added keyboardist, Andy Metcalfe, the 1987 disc, Babylon and On. Incredibly, that 1987 album produced the band’s only 2 Billboard top 40 hits in the US, Hourglass at #15 and 853-5937. This soundboard recording captures Squeeze on July 31, 1988, 31 years ago today, at the Ritz in NY on tour in support of Babylon and On.
