SWITZERLAND - Steve Miller was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1943. His parents were friends with guitar legend Les Paul, who encouraged young Steve’s interest in music. Miller later spent time in dallas, Chicago and New York, honing his guitar skills. By 1966, however, he had found his way to San Francisco, and became part of the twin music and cultural revolutions that emerged from the City By The Bay. Miller originally played the blues, but by 1973, his music began to change, taking on more of what would soon be called an AOR sound. His tune the Joker went to #1 on the Billboard charts, and Miller set out to replicate that success with his next album. When Fly Like An Eagle was released in 1976, the album would be certified quadruple platinum, and climb to #3 on the Billboard charts. The title track would go to #2 on the Billboard singles chart, Take The Money and run would reach #11, and Rock’n Me would go all the way to the top spot. Miller continued to release successful albums and singles during the rest of the decade and into the early 1980s, but after the release of album Abracadabra in 1982 which went to #3 on the Billboard chars he never again had a major hit record.
