Cover tunes have always been an integral part of Clapton’s live shows, especially because of his roots in blues music. Songs such as Cocaine, from JJ Cale, I Shot The Sheriff, from Bob Marley, and Crossroads, by Robert Johnson, and Further On Up The Road, by Bobby Blue Bland, have always been integral parts of his live performances. This soundboard from December 4, 2001, 12 years ago today, is no exception when it comes to cover tunes, including Key To The Highway, Hoochie Coochie Man and the aforementioned Cocaine, just to name a few. The encore, however, includes one of EC’s most unique covers, a rendition of Somewhere Over The Rainbow, a tune most famous for the version sung by Judy Garland in the Wizard of Oz.
