Grateful Dead - 1968-12-29 - Hallandale, FL (SBD)

I’m posting this soundboard featuring the Grateful Dead from December 29, 1968, 45 years ago today for 3 reasons:

1. A few months back I posted some 1960s Dead and the response was so great, that I thought I should bring everyone another show from that era.
2. The concert takes place at GulfStream Park Race Track, a site I’ve been to on several occasions in the last 5 years. Gulfstream has undergone a remarkable transformation, adding a casino, high end restaurants, a shopping village and taking on the look a feel of an upscale resort. Quite a contrast to the vibe of a Grateful Dead concert . 
3. In keeping with our December theme, the set list includes a cover of Turn On Your Lovelight, a song originally done by Bobby Blue Bland. The tune would be one of Pigpen’s signature songs, providing a rowdy, down and dirty bluesy contrast to the band’s psychedelic space trips on such songs as Dark Star and The Other One.
