The Who - 1971-12-13 - San Francisco, CA (SBD)
In 1958, Eddie Cochran co wrote and recorded the song Summertime Blues, which he took to #8 on the Billboard charts. The tune became a favorite of The Who, who included the song in their set list at the US debut at the Monterrey Pop festival in June 1967. For the rest of that decade and right through the mid 1970s, Summertime Blues was a staple of The Who’s set list. As this soundboard recording evidences, This show from December 13, 1971, 42 years ago today, is no exception!

Thanks for this great who show Speedy, anything from the 1971 whos next tour is greatly appreciated very few soundboards exist from that period. Have a question , were you aware that live at the hull 1970 was released a while back as an official release. As they did with the deluxe edition of live at leeds they didn't release the show in the correct order. They put tommy in its entirety on one disk and the rest of e songs on another disk. As im sure you know that's not the order in which they performed their shows back then. They would open with other songs then do tommy in the middle before finishing off their shows with summertime blues, shakin all over my generation and then sometimes magic bus. I for one prefer the shows in sequence as they happened. Why do you feel they do this and do you know if live at the hull contains overdubs as well, the thought of a now almost 70 year old roger daltry overdubbing vocals ov a show that's almost 44 years is almost laughable .any knowledge of this. thanks again for all you do
My pleasure to share! I don't have the Live at Hull disc (but its on my list to buy) but reviews I read have said its a phenomenal, "warts and all" recording, which leads me to believe that not much, if any editing has been done!
I have the who live at leeds complete bootleg and it blows the official deluxe edition away, not only is it soundboard but also no edits and songs in the correct order as they should be. Leeds, Hull. ecc are great shows but in my opinion Amsterdam 9/29.1969 is the greatest who show of all time at least of all the shows ive heard. Why that show was never released is beyond me although if it had been it probably would have been ruined with overdubs , edits , out of correct order just as most all of the other official releases have been , do you agree ? Unfortunately, record companies have a way of continually screwing this stuff up, which is why we all collect bootlegs!

totally agree about Amsterdam 69, the greatest concert ever by the greatest live band of all time . rock music just dosent get any better than that . late 60s early 70s who second to none
