1980: In August 1980, Pat Benatar released her 2nd album, Crimes of Passion, featuring the hit single Hit Me with Your Best Shot, which cracked the top 10 on the Billboard charts. The album did even better, peaking at #2 for 5 consecutive weeks in early 1981 and selling over 5 million copies. The album also earned Benatar her first Grammy Award for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance. In August 1981, the video of You Better Run, another cut from the album, would become the 2nd video ever played on MTV. This WNEW-FM broadcast captures Ms. Benatar at the Bottom Line in New York on November 10, 1980, 37 years ago today, while on tour in support of Crimes of Passion. I would catch her live just 12 days later, on November 22, at the Palladium in NYC.

One of the most influential female rock performers of the last 40 years. Until her recent transformation I think Kelly Clarkson wanted to be Pat Benatar, and her version of "Since You Been Gone" is as close as she ever got.

Even today,Pat Benatar is still looking absolutely GREAT for her very advanced age, considering that this gig was probably the first ever rock concert broadcast on radio - given that it is dated 1908 !
