An earlier post on this blog covered Billy Joel's December 11, 1977 concert at The Nassau Coliseum, a coming out celebration for his new album, The Stranger. This post, however, an FM Broadcast from CW Post University on May 6, 1977, 33 years ago today, captures Billy a few month's prior to the release of that pivotal album. Two songs from that album -- Just the Way You Are and Scenes From an Italian Restaurant - appear as part of the set list, but this show mainly features Joel's music from his earlier albums, including Piano Man and Turnstiles. The venue, CW Post Campus in Brookville, and the radio station broadcasting the show, WLIR-FM, reflect that at this point, Joel was still predominantly a Long Island artist.
