Our look at May 1977 continues with a show from Chicago, who played the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, NY on May 20, 1977, 36 years ago today. May 1977 was also my next to last month in high school, with my graduation in June and then off to college in September. So what does the end of my time in high school have to do with Chicago being on tour?  Well, if memory serves me correctly, my high school debated between calling our Senior Prom either Harmony (after the Elton John song) or Colour My World (inspired by Chicago's tune).  I believe Harmony won out, but as the Wikipedia entry on Colour My World states, the tune "became a popular "slow-dance" song at high school proms and university dances during the 1970s."  My prom was no exception. In any event, this FM broadcast captures Chicago in the band's prime, prior to the tragic death of guitarist and vocalist Terry Kath.  Chicago's reputation as a rock band was sullied in the 80's and 90's as the group veered more and more into soft rock ballads.  Download this show and you'll  be reminded that at one point in their career, Chicago was a damn fine rock and roll band.  By the way -- some posts have the date for this show as June 20, but the more research I did, the more I was convinced that the May 20 date is correct!
