Our 2nd entry to feature the Grateful Dead's 1977 spring tour can be considered the warm up to the "big ones".  The 3 shows on May 7, 8 and 9, especially the middle one of the trio, hold a unique place in the band's history. Many feel those 3 concerts are the Dead at their absolute peak. While such opinions are, of course, subjective, the fact remains that something magical was happening with the band and its audience in May 1977. This soundboard from New Haven on May 5, 1977, 36 years ago today, is yet another stellar performance in a month filled with them. Deadbase ranks it as the 7th best show of the entire spring tour.  In addition, the Sugaree is considered one of the best versions ever performed by the band, regardless of the year.  Download this one as a nice appetizer to prepare you for the main course that will be served from May 7 to 9!
