Two days ago, we posted the Grateful Dead from the 3rd of 5 concerts to close the Fillmore East. We also discussed that 1 show just wasn't enough to due justice to that historic venue. The last of the 5 shows featured 3 San Francisco favorites who had graced the Fillmore West stage numerous times in the past - Tower of Power, Santana, and Creedence Clearwater Revival.  .This FM broadcast captures CCR's set from that Independence Day 1971 show, 44 years ago today, While CCR never played live on stage with the Dead, John Fogerty most certainly did. As folks know from May’s post, Forgery lead in for the Dead on May 27, 1989 . Jerry and Bob Weir both joined Fogerty on stage during his set. In addition, at the November 3, 1991 concert in memory of promoter Bill Graham. Fogerty joined the Dead half way through their set. The Dead then served as hi backing band for 4 tunes - Born On The Bayou, Green River, Bad Moon Rising and Proud Mary. Go here for that show.
