Believe it or not, Steve Miller actually sat in with the Grateful Dead on at least 5 occasions during their 1992 summer tour, where Miller was the opening act. In some ways, that’s surprising, as Miller had gone a far more commercial route in the 1970s and 1980s than the Dead had. That said, both bands had San Francisco roots, with Miller and The Dead appearing on the same bill as early as 1966! In any event, this FM Broadcast captures Miller on July 8, 1989, 26 years ago today, in Kansas City.
